Meet the team members

Dr. Sami Domisch is a Leibniz-Junior Research Group Leader and is interested in freshwater biodiversity and biogeography across spatial scales, and in developing tools in spatial freshwater biodiversity science.

Dr. Jaime Garcia Marquez is a GIS Data Analyst with a strong emphasis in open-source methods & tools for analysing large biodiversity data sets using the Linux command-line and the High Performance Computing cluster.

Martin Friedrichs-Manthay is a PhD student working on fish distribution models, assessing scale-dependencies and model uncertainties for conservation (funded by the GLANCE project and co-supervised by Sami)

Annika Brunner is a Master Student at Freie Universität Berlin and an intern at the Leibniz-Institute of Freshwater Ecology and Inland Fisheries (IGB). She investigates how species occurrence data impacts freshwater species distribution models.

Thomas Tomiczek is a Master student from the Humboldt University working on his Master thesis at the Leibniz-Institute of Freshwater Ecology and Inland Fisheries (IGB). His thesis addresses integrating freshwater biodiversity in large scale conservation planning in Colombia.

Xiling Deng is a visiting PhD student from the Senckenberg Research Institute and Natural History Museum. She is working on the phylogeography of caddiesflies along elevational gradients.
